Minutes of the Pre-AGM Committee Meeting:

Leigh RUFC at 6:30 4th July 2023

Committee Present: Fred Swarbrick, John Powell, Andy Thompson, Paul Riordan, Peter Harrison, Peter Rhodes, Craig Ross, Tommy Hughes, Greg King and Ian Cousens

Apologies Committee: Craig Hine, Mark Ashley and Sarah Shackleton

Cup Competitions:

Following JP’s e-mails on the subject the consensus of opinion was to run the cup competition throughout the season and run it as a knockout. Kendal & Buxton to be the venues.

Finance:

GK present the accounts for year ending 31st May 2023, and he report a loss in year of just over £8,000. The current balance is £23,389.55. The balance in the Benevolent Fund is £10378.59. During the 22/23 season only one payment of £500 was paid out to a player.
It was agreed to look at expenditure for the main account so as to stop the overspend.
There is a proposal to increase team fees to £75.

Fixtures:

All clubs have now been contacted and JP is trying to sort out a couple of requests to change levels where he can. Clubs can swap with agreement with the other clubs. Any changes need to be with JP by end of July

Sponsorship:

Not all leagues have a sponsor and the committee were asked to look for new sponsors for the coming season. £200 is a very good packing for prospective companies. FS agreed to help IC with recruiting new sponsors. IC also agreed to chase companies who had not paid their 22/23 monies.

AGM Proposals:

It was agreed unanimously that the committee would not support Proposal 5 – Increase in the number of concedes to 7.
Committee: All agreed to stay on in their current roles for the coming season, although there were some concern that if proposal 5 was passed some members were not willing to continue as they felt it that the leagues would become unmanageable.
