Reg was a co-founder of NOWIRUL along with Fred Swarbrick in January 2002. Fred was upset about teams regularly crying off fixures at 2nd 3rd and 4th team levels. Both Reg & Fred have been involved with Vale of Lune for approximately 60 years, Fred being Fixture Secretary for many years They decided to WRITE (NO INTERNET IN THOSE DAYS) to 12 Clubs to ask if they would be interested in joining a New League set-up which we proposed to start. Of these, Lymm, Caldy and Chester declined the offer but Liverpool St Helens indicated they would be willing to join. We decided to approach 4 other Clubs, Rochdale, Southport, Dukinfield and Leigh. This was all done from Reg's front room. The inaugural meeting was held at Vale of Lune on March 20th 2002. Eight people met and a Committee of Fred Swarbrick, Chairman, Reg Robinson, Secretary, John Powell, Treasurer and Graham Makepeace Warne, Laymember, was set up. This led to a first season of a 3rd Team League, with additions of Blackburn 2nds who won it first time out. All fixtures were set up by the Club’s fixture secretaries. During the first season of this 3rd Team League we investigated and found out that there were 3 other leagues and merit tables being run by Alan Johnson (a 2nd team merit table), Ian Cosens, (a 3rd team league), and Greg King (a 3rd/4th team merit table). This led to a meeting on March 19th 2003 where it was proposed to integrate the 4 leagues and a new Committee be set up in order that the new leagues would run from season 2003-04. A further meeting was planned for April 14th 2003. At this meeting it was agreed that there would be 6 leagues because of interest shown by many more Clubs, with Alan Johnson coming in as President and additional League Secretaries would be Ian Cosens, Greg King and Barry Allen. In addition Barry Allen would sort out Fixtures for us, a task only he is capable of. He still does an amazing job for the leagues. Reg carried on as the Leagues Secretary (which included all fixtures) until 2014 when the Secretaries job was split into Leagues Secretary and Fixtures Secretary. John Powell taking on the job of Fixtures. The following year Reg stood down as Leagues Secretary with Paul Whiston taking over. Reg is now the Secretary of two leagues, Div 3N and 5E and is happy with his lot. Reg has a record of every League meeting since inception if anyone is interested.

Postponed Games

Postponed games are normally re-arranged for the next available weekend by the Honorary Fixtures Secretary in collaboration with Reg. Re-scheduled fixtures will be shown here within a day or two of the postponement.

DO NOT assume you can simply re-schedule your own games when you have a postponement as there are knock on effects and other Teams' fixtures to consider. Any suggestions can however be discussed with Reg.

Managers should please notify Reg by eMail of any re-scheduled games or fixture switches / reversals which they spot have not been updated in the Fixture List.
